Elisha Cuthbert has said she is planning her wedding herself - and she's loving it.

The Happy Endings actress got engaged to Toronto Maple Leafs ice hockey captain Dion Phaneuf last September after four years of dating, and told Us Weekly she hasn't hired a wedding planner as she wants to be a hands-on bride.

Elisha said: "You hear a lot about people saying that it's a stressful thing to do, planning a wedding, but I have to say - knock on wood - so far so good. Every step has gotten me more excited about our actual wedding day.

"When you're 30 and you know your personal style and you know who you are as a person, it's a good age to plan a wedding. I wouldn't have had the confidence to do this when I was younger."

And the 24 star hasn't been doing it all completely alone, as Dion has been helping too.

Elisha added. "We've been doing it together, and it's just been lovely."

But the Girl Next Door star is holding off on making a final decision on the all-important detail - the wedding dress.

She said: "I have a number one contender, but I'm not pulling the trigger quite yet."
