Jeremy Clarkson has been rather quiet on Twitter since the infamous fracas with a Top Gear producer cost him his job presenting the popular motoring show.

But he made a social media splash today when he took posted a picture of a yellow Corvette – and eagle-eyed followers spotted a camera crew in the background.

But what does it all mean?

Some thought it must mean a return to Top Gear…

Some thought there was a new project on the way…

Others thought they spotted a familiar face in the background…

But this guy surely got to the heart of the matter.

Whatever the truth, it seems Clarkson’s fans can’t wait to have him back on TV.

The 55-year-old was effectively axed from the hit show after he attacked a Top Gear producer, with director-general Tony Hall saying “a line has been crossed”.

James May and Richard Hammond have not signed new Top Gear contracts, and the BBC is reported to have approached former model Jodie Kidd, Life On Mars star Philip Glenister and Channel 4 presenter Guy Martin for a new show.
