Being a celebrity certainly has its perks. Miley Cyrus will be walking home with a rather extravagant goodie bag for her services as the host for this year’s MTV VMA awards.

So will Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift and everyone else who is performing on stage.

The official MTV Video Music Awards gift bag (or suitcase!) is filled with loads of expensive and luxury items – and that includes holidays to Thailand and Bali, as well as Swiss watches, speakers and perfume.

Karen Wood, president of Backstage Creations, says the gifts are more of a ‘thank you’ for celebrities agreeing to take part at the VMAs.

“Most celebrities don’t get paid to do this,” she said. “It is promotion for them getting out there [at the VMAS] but it’s nice to give them a ‘thank you’ for supporting the show.

“But it’s also important for these brands because this is really ‘celebrities of the style’ arbiters. They are the trend setters and these celebrities can make or break brands.”
