Review: Supersize vs Superskinny
I HAVE never believed in the saying ‘you are what you eat’.
Eating lots of chips won’t turn you into a 6ft potato – or drinking lots of wine won’t change you into a giant grape.
But too much of a good thing can make you ill and affect your mental state, this is what I discovered after watching Supersize vs Superskinny.
I was left in total shock over the amount of junk that one person can actually eat or how having such teeny-tiny portions can affect your health.
This week we saw 20-stone student nurse Victoria’s huge portions.
For breakfast she had three slices of toast with jam, two croissants, a bowl of cereal, a fizzy drink and coffee.
It was swapped for the breakfast (two crumpets) of Hannah Pidgley – she was skinny and clinically diagnosed with malnutrition.
Host Dr Christian Jensen then proved that no matter what, it’s harder to get pregnant if you are over or underweight.
This was topical because for Hannah, she had abused her body so much she had damaged her fertility.
Equally, Victoria was a comfort eater which affected her chances of conceiving.
Everybody knows that we need fuel to run, but putting in the wrong kind can have damaging consequences.
From now on, monitoring the amount of spuds and grapes I consume can’t be a bad thing.
