THE show that makes liars out of our favourite comedians made a welcome return to the TV schedule on Friday night.

Would I Lie to You is witty, clever and features the marvellous David Mitchell — what more could you ask from half an hour’s telly?

Last night's show featured regular team captains Mitchell and Lee Mack alongside guest stars Gabby Logan, Rob Brydon, Robert Webb and Krishnan Guru-Murthy. But who excelled in the art of fibbing?

Gabby Logan did a surprisingly good job of her story about swiping red liquorice from Madonna's dressing room.

But the night belonged to Mitchell and Brydon who made a great double-act. This show is not only funny, it also offers an insight into the lives of our favourite stars.

Some of the best examples of “astounding truths” revealed in the last series of this show included: Dom Joly was at school with Osama bin Laden. Claudia Winkleman once wrote in to Jim’ll Fix It asking to see ABBA, but was instead offered the chance to see how blue cheese was made. Frankie Boyle is allergic to coins. John Barrowman urinated in Prince Charles's garden. And Gwyneth Paltrow once said “I would rather die than let my kid eat Cup-a-Soup”.

And some of the "terrible lies"?

David Mitchell did not faint during Kill Bill and Ben & Jerry's did not make a limited edition Anne Robinson-flavoured Ice Cream’
