Transformers stars Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz have said that working with Michael Bay was nowhere near as scary as his reputation might suggest.

Director Michael is known for taking a tough line with those working for him, but Jack and Nicola, who star in Transformers: Age Of Extinction alongside Mark Wahlberg, said he was nowhere near as intimidating as people expect.

Nicola said: "No, not scared, excited. He's a genius and such a talented, talented person, and to be able to work with him was very exciting for us."

Jack agreed: "I met him in LA and we had a great general meeting together and I'd gone in to do my test with Nicola when Michael was there, so we had a relationship with him at that stage and he's a great dude, a lot of fun."

The actor continued: "He does know what he wants, but he has to ... it took 4,000 people to make this movie, and Michael has to be the one to sign off on every last aspect of it.

"So yeah, he has to get exactly what he wants and the people who are prepared to collaborate with him on that and commit and to be dedicated to that are always the people who do best in his films."

Jack also has a scene in the film when he has to argue with Mark, who plays Nicola's character's dad and is helping them to fight the forces of evil with Optimus Prime and his Autobots.

He said that experience hadn't fazed him either: "I'm comfortable enough doing that with Mark. He's a great guy, we get on very well together and we have a fun relationship on set."

Transformers: Age Of Extinction is released in cinemas on July 5.
