Greg James has stood up for his Radio 1 colleague Scott Mills, who he reckons has been on the receiving end of an "unfair mauling" on Strictly Come Dancing.

The DJ and presenter said he has been watching Scott show off his dance moves on the BBC show.

"I watched him last night, I think he's getting an unfair mauling," Greg told Digital Spy.

"But I think that might be playing in his favour because people are going, 'Do you know what? It's not as bad as they're saying'."

The 28-year-old continued: "I'm enjoying watching him do it, and he seems to be having a lot of fun doing it as well."

Scott was at the bottom of the scoreboard on last week's show, with just 15 points for his American Smooth with dance partner Joanne Clifton.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood harshly told him: "You're an exception to the rule that anyone can learn to dance. I was worried about your health and safety when you ran like a banshee."

Bruno Tonioli described the dance as an "American tragedy", adding: "You're like a puzzle and nothing fits together - it takes some doing."

But Scott was saved by the viewers and it was Bargain Hunt star Tim Wonnacott, 64, who became the latest casualty after losing a dance-off with TV personality Mark Wright.
