Downton Abbey’s cast may still be filming their final series, but they already have their eye on a few mementoes they’d like to take away from the set.
The ITV period drama will draw to a close at the end of this year after the sixth series and a Christmas special, and filming is currently under way.
Speaking at a Downton Abbey-themed ball in aid of homeless charity Centrepoint, some of the cast revealed what they would love to be able to take home as a reminder of their time on the show.
Lesley Nicol, who plays cook Mrs Patmore, said: “There’s this really lovely thing in the kitchen that I’ve got my eye on. It’s like a shopping list that says, ‘Household wants…’ and then you put the item in, like sugar, flour.
“I’d like to keep my hat if I can, because I love my little hat.”
Samantha Bond, who stars as Lady Rosamund, said that she was setting her sights high: “Yes, I’d like the dining table. A dining table that could seat 20. I might try and fit it in the back of the car.”
Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith) said: “Handbags, clothes… The name cards we get for dinner.”
Jim Carter, who plays butler Mr Carson, reckoned he wouldn’t even consider trying to swipe anything, but did admit to a fondness for one item.
He said of what he’d take from the set: “I hadn’t even thought of that, you cheeky monkey.
“I’ve got a very nice wine decanter device in my little office, but I think they’ll all be accounted for. There’s no chance, is there? No, no, no, no, no. They’re all spoken for.”
