Kirstie Allsopp has revealed co-presenter Phil Spencer hates it when she asks couples awkward questions about their family plans when they are looking at houses.

The Location, Location, Location stars, whose new show Love It Or List It has just begun on Channel 4, have been helping people get on the housing ladder since the hit show first began 15 years ago, and Kirstie is not afraid to give out home truths.

Kistie revealed: “The thing that tortures Phil, I think probably more than anything else, is I turn to people and I say ‘What are your plans for children?’ And Phil’s like, ‘You can’t ask that!’
And I’m like, ‘Yes I can! They’re investing this huge amount of money in something that shelters them’.”

She added: “We had one couple and the producer nearly killed me! They were Phil’s couple, Phil had shied away from it, I was only seeing one house with them, went in, took her aside, had the chat.

“The next day they reduced their budget by £100,000 because they realised they’d better get on with it!

“We have had a couple of funny times when they’ve gone, ‘Do you? We haven’t talked about it’.”

Phil added: “That’s true, that’s amazing, that you could be looking for a house together and you haven’t even had that conversation.”

New show Love It Or List It sees the duo go head-to-head as Kirstie persuades home owners to remodel their homes rather than go through the hassle of moving, while Phil tries to find them a new property to buy instead.

Phil admitted he had recently tried asking one of his couples about family plans, but it had backfired on him as they “shut down the conversation”.

Kirstie And Phil’s Love It Or List It is on Channel 4 on Tuesdays at 8pm.
