18-year-old man remanded following Preston shooting

A teenager has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with attempted murder and arson following the shooting of a Preston man.

Zainul James, 18, of The Green, Ribbleton, has been charged after 25-year-old Dilbag Singh was shot in the neck in St Paul's Road, Preston, on Friday, April 11.

He has been remanded in custody following a hearing at Preston Magistrates on Saturday.

A trial date has been set for Tuesday, May 13, at Preston Crown Court.

Three people aged 25, 24, and 31 who were arrested on suspicion of assault and kidnap, have been released on bail.

And two people, aged 27 and 20, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have also been bailed.

Mr Singh was left with more than 30 pellet wounds in his neck after being shot at from a Renault Clio.

The Renault Clio was found burnt out on Manor House Lane after the shooting and a shotgun recovered are both being tested by forensic officers.
