Stolen car used to ram raid Preston off-licence

Police in Preston are appealing for witnesses after a stolen car was driven through an off-licence window in a ram raid in Fulwood on Saturday.

Three men caused thousands of pounds of damage when they drove through the front of Bargain Booze in Conway Drive, Preston, in the early hours of Saturday morning and stole a quantity of beer.

The green Vauxhall Vectra vehicle used in the shop burglary is believed to have been stolen from a driveway during a burglary at a house in Ingol some time after 11pm on Friday.

At 5.10am, the damaged car was discovered in Walker Lane, Ingol, with the headlights still on and one of the doors open.

Det Sgt John Crichton, from Preston CID, said: "This was not a professional job and seems to be an unplanned and desperate attempt to get some beer but the damage to the shop is extensive.

"The car is currently being forensically examined and I am appealing for anybody that may have seen this car being stolen, abandoned, or seen the incident itself to come forward.

"The offenders are thought to be aged 18-25, and wearing black clothing and their faced were hidden."
