Car crashes in Longridge after being driven with missing tyre
1:00pm Friday 18th October 2013 in News
POLICE received a report of a car being driven with a missing tyre and sparks flying from the wheel.
Blackburn magistrates heard that minutes later they received a separate report that the same car had hit a parked vehicle in Mersey Street, Longridge.
Paul Norman Kelsall, 29, of Dawshaw Farm, Goosnargh, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £400 with £125 costs and banned from driving for 20 months after the magistrates heard he gave a reading of 88 against the legal limit of 35.
Alexander Rostron, defending, said Kelsall had told police he had been “unwise” to drive after drinking six pints.
“That is an understatement and stupid would be a better description,” said Mr Rostron. “He is saving to get married in January and a driving ban will make it difficult for him to do his job in the farm buildings trade.”
