LONGRIDGE is one of the best towns in which to bring up a family, according to a new survey.
The small Ribble Valley town, with a population of about 8,000, came 11th out of 2,400 districts in the Family Investments report.
It earned one of the top rankings due to a number of factors, including its low crime rate, above-average primary and secondary school exam scores, and relatively low cost homes.
The report said the town had all the facilities a family would need, including a library, several schools, a good nightlife helped by nine pubs and restaurants, and special events. The average price for a two-bedroom house was estimated at £12,020 lower than the national average at £162,612.
Leyland and Kirkham came 16th and 18th in the report. Nottinghamshire market town Bingham was crowned the best family-friendly town for the second year running.
