TWO council workers have been quizzed by police officers investigating fraudulent activity in the past five years, it has been revealed.
Data released under freedom of information laws and seen by the Lancashire Telegraph shows the workers at Lancashire County Council were probed between January 2009 and August 2014.
Neither of the alleged offenders have been named in police documents, with even their gender being withheld.
One of them, a care assistant, was given an unconditional caution after they admitted calling in sick of several occasions over a two year period and then working for other companies.
The other, described as a 'former employee', was charged with fraud by false representation following claims they bought items planned for use in supported housing and kept them for their own use.
The police documents said: "Offender has also [allegedly] received payments for overtime and other allowances pertinent to their position by falsely claiming to be entitled to the same and by forging documentary signatures and entries."
Nobody from the county council could be reached for a comment.
