THE deadline for views to be submitted on a plan for 305 houses in Longridge to the borough council has now passed.

JWPC Chartered Town Planners have drawn up the plans, which could also see a neighbourhood centre created on land to the west of Preston Road, to the south of the town.

The land is currently farmed by the Forshaw family, who own approximately 50 per cent of the land and lease the rest from the landowners and joint applicants, Grimbaldeston Farm Trustees.

Around 30 per cent of the homes, 92, would be classed as 'affordable' with the overall development including 46 bungalows - the remainder being two to five bedroomed properties.

Almost half of the site would be retained as open space, with wildlife corridors, ponds and landscaped features.

The farmland is currently used for grazing, with a residential estate to the north with sports pitches also bordering the site - although the new estate would creep towards the small hamlet of Alston.
