A BOLTON comic has been selected to appear at next year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Lewis Charlesworth will perform there in August 2016 after he was successfully selected by organisers to appear.

In 2014 there were 49,497 performances of 3,193 shows in 299 venues, making it the largest ever arts festival in the world.

Mr Charlesworth, aged 30, said: “I am really excited — Edinburgh is the biggest and best of its kind in the world. Every performer wants to be there.”

The 33-year-old from Harwood, who used to be a member of the Octagon Youth Theatre, is performing his own show tonight at the Swan Pub in Oldham with his girlfriend Rosie Phillips, aged 24.

The Kinky Boot Institute is an original piece promising high energy, silly satirical scenes with music, dance, day-to-day observations and up to the minute cultural references.

Mr Charlesworth said: “I’ve been working as a comic for seven years now and I decided to go back into writing scripts.

“There are definitely pros and cons to working with your partner – but thankfully the pros outweigh the cons and we’re really looking forward to performing together.”
