FARNWORTH captain Simon Booth believes today's top-two clash with Egerton could be pivotal in the Bolton League title race.

If the second-placed Lavender Road outfit are going to win the league they will have to do it the hard way with tough fixtures against fellow contenders Greenmount, Farnworth Social Circle and Westhoughton also to come.

But Booth was upbeat about his side's chances ahead of the visit of Will Halton's side.

He said: "It gives us a chance to go top again.

"We were top of the league recently and then Egerton managed to get a game in when the rest of the teams did not.

"Egerton did not have the best start to the season but have done really well.

"Now we are at the back-end of the season we have a few tough games including Greenmount and Social Circle but a win on Saturday could turn the tables.

"You have to beat the best teams in the league if you want to win it."

Farnworth already have the bragging rights over the Blackburn Road side this season after they won by 58 runs in May.

On the day, Chris Baxendale hit 30, professional Kamran Sajid added 51 and Booth (27 not out) spearheaded the side to 189-7.

In reply, Adil Nisar did most of the damage with 6-23 as Egerton were all out for 131.

Booth has been impressed with the form of his side.

He said: "We have been doing really well at the top of the order with Chris (Baxendale), Nisa (Adil Nisar) and our pro hitting the runs.

"But our success is a team effort because lower down the order have contributed too.

"Scott Mather has had a bad time but came in and won the game against Eagley last week with 44.

"Chris Wilson is going to be out of the Egerton game but Curtis Anderton will come in."

Booth hopes home advantage could act in their favour.

He said: "We have not lost many games at home this season but it is going to be difficult because Egerton are a good team.

"They have at least two or three really good players such as Adam Street with the ball and then Will Halton, their pro Mahela Udawatta and also Amal Dalugoda.

"We know if we can stop them then hopefully we will be able to get a result."

Elsewhere, Bradshaw may still have a say in where the title ends up this season as they take on third-placed Greenmount on Saturday.

Tomorrow’s fixtures: Farnworth v Egerton, Farnworth Social Circle v Eagley, Greenmount v Bradshaw, Heaton v Astley Bridge, Horwich v Walkden, Kearsley v Tonge, Westhoughton v Little Lever.
