DEAN Moxey will play through the pain against Forest today.

The Wanderers full-back was given the all-clear by doctors after undergoing midweek X-rays on a toe injury sustained in the 1-0 defeat at MK Dons.

Neil Lennon confirmed yesterday that a final check would be made on the defender but was confident he would be able to feature from the start at the Macron Stadium.

“We think Deano will be okay,” he said. “He’s been to see a specialist and had a scan but it’s not broken, so he may need a jab, but he’ll play.”

Moxey will be looking for a change in fortune against Forest, having failed to beat them in eight attempts so far.

That run, which included appearances for Derby, Crystal Palace and Wanderers, yielded just two points and also two red cards.

Lennon has confidence in the experienced defender, however, but remains keen to sign a back-up.

Spanish defender Juan Manuel Casado remains on trial with the club and Lennon has not ruled out offering the 29-year-old a permanent deal.

“We still need cover, so we’ll still be looking at it,” he said.

“Casano is in on trial at the moment so he’s one of the options.”

Provided Moxey comes through his fitness checks Wanderers have no new injury problems to worry about, although Darren Pratley, David Wheater, Derik Osede, Liam Trotter and Max Clayton remain unavailable.

Lennon hopes the upcoming international break will give most of those players a chance to return to contention but hoped summer signing Derik could feature in next Friday’s derby at Blackburn Rovers, all being well.

“He’s out on the grass doing some straight-line running,” he added. “He may be fit for the last game before the break – Blackburn – but if not then the two-week break will get him up to speed and it’ll be the Wolves game.”
