A HOLIDAYMAKER has been fined for threatening an off-duty police officer at a Windermere campsite.
A court heard that Lee McFayden, 46, of Hyfrydle Road, Caernarfon, had to be restrained after clenching his fist and using abusive language towards Gerard McDonough.
Pam Ward, prosecuting, said the incident happened on July 25 when McFayden’s partner came out of their caravan at Braithwaite Fold and asked Mr McDonough to call the police.
She said: “Mr McFayden then emerged from the caravan with a dog, and pulled the dog up by its lead so that it was nearly off the floor.
“When Mr McDonagh challenged him about his behaviour he threatened to knock him out.”
In mitigation, Suzie Kavanagh said McFayden had been drinking and had an argument with his partner when she left the caravan, although she has since denied asking for police to be called.
Mrs Kavanagh said: “He accepts he had his fist clenched but not that he would have done anything to harm one of his dogs.”
McFayden pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour and was ordered to pay £565, including costs.
