Chorley Ladies 1 Radcliffe Ladies 4 CHORLEY Ladies were brought crashing back down to earth as they were knocked out of the League Cup.
The new-look Ladies, sporting a new kit colours and a new home, went in to the clash in confident mood having won their opening two games in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division One.
But they were up against a Radcliffe side who had also won their first two fixtures and finished fourth in the Midlands Premier League last season.
It was a first ever meeting between the two teams and Chorley created the better of the chances in the first half but could not break the deadlock.
It was a similar story after the break and ultimately, Chorley would pay the price for not making their possession and pressure count.
Wood and then Natalie Parry both went close and, as is often the case, Radcliffe scored with their first meaningful attack of the half.
Chorley were clearly shell shocked having dominated for 70 minutes but Radcliffe showed the killer instinct that Chorley lacked. Chorley pushed for an equaliser but with a few minutes they were 3-0 down.
Berry did pull a goal back from a corner but there was to be no comeback as Radcliffe added a fourth to seal victory.
Chorley return to league action against Mossley Hill tomorrow.
