THE launch of a residential development at an 18th century landmark is to take place this month.

Visitors will be able to catch a glimpse of artists impressions of the finished development by the Hurstwood Group, at Holly Mount House, Rawtenstall.

Doors to the sales centre will be open from 10am, on August 31, and will provide full details, including prices for all the new properties, as well as information about other residential developments by Hurstwood, who are experienced in restoring buildings to meet the approval of English Heritage.

The development, situated off St Mary's Way, will include a mix of three-bedroom town houses and semi-detached homes and a collection of two bedroom apartments.

The Holly Mount site was originally owned by mill owners the Whitehead brothers in the 1830s and is widely regarded as one of the town centre's most important landmarks.

The new homes will be built to the rear of the mansion.

Trevor Ashworth, residential director for Hurstwood, said: "it is a wonderful location being close to the town centre and ideal for all local amenities including shops, schools and the local transport and motorway ne"

"The homes are being finished in materials that will compliment Holly Mount House and the layout of the homes takes its inspiration for the original layout of the building on site in the early 1900s."

Work on the development is due to be completed by Christmas 2008.
