A TEENAGER has been charged with wounding over a knife attack which left a man with permanent scarring.
Police arrested a 17-year-old Asian youth on suspicion of wounding in connection with the attack, in which a man was slashed across the face at Rawtenstall bus station following an argument on a bus.
Police said the victim was seen arguing with two men on the bus, on its way from Bacup towards Accrington, before leaving the bus at 9.50pm. One or two of the attackers slashed the man across his face with some form of knife in the disturbance, police added.
The bus driver, who had pulled away by the time of the attack, was interviewed, and police said there were six people on the bus before the attack.
The victim, a builder in his 30s, has had plastic surgery after the attack on Friday, July 13, and is recovering well, said police. DC Ben Hodgkinson, of Burnley's hate crime unit, said: "We charged a 17-year-old Asian with wounding, and he will be appearing at Rossendale Youth Court in September."
