As Hallowe'en and Bonfire Night approaches the police will be out in force to tackle anti-social behaviour across the city.

This weekend Lancashire's Constabulary's special division will be targeting hotspots for anti-social behaviour, which have been identified by local residents at Police and Communities Together meetings.

They will be focusing on youths who mis-use fireworks, in the Brookfield, Fishwick, Saint Matthews, Ribbleton, Ashton, Lea, Deepdale and city centre areas.

They will also be visiting local shops to stop retailers selling fireworks to those who are under 18.

Chief Inspector James Lee, said: "The Division's Special Constabulary make up a vital part of the policing team for the city and over this weekend they will be supporting the work of our regular officers and our local communities in combating what can be one of the most disruptive times of the year. The approach to Hallowe'en and Bonfire Night brings with it disruption to many local communities as a result of small numbers of youths who misuse fireworks. The Special Constabulary will be working within many of these neighbourhoods to help us combat such incidents of nuisance."

A neighbour last night had a firework put through their letterbox, at around 10.45pm the police were called, yet, when I went to bed at 2am, after comforting them, and ensuring the culprit had left the scene and wasn't coming back, the police still hadn't arrived. What is the point in phoning them, if they are not going to actually turn up to nick these little scroats.

No furhter comments on the lack of police priorities I see

Guess the lack of policing in this area is down to residents then, fair enough.
