The charity pot of a local hospice that helps people in Preston, South Ribble and Chorley as well as other areas across Lancashire has been given a massive cash boost following a social night.

Members of the Rotary Club of Preston South, have handed over a fat cheque for £3,050 to St Catherine's Hospice's appeals manager, John Nickson.

The money was raised from a sports and comedy night at the Pines Hotel, Preston Road, Clayton-le-Woods and a can collection at Booths superstore.

The money means that the Preston Rotary group has raised more than £20,000 for the Lostock Hall charity in the last few years.

The hospice, based in Lostock Lane, relies on charitable donations for the majority of its annual budget.

  • On Saturday the hospice hosts a plant sale to raise extra cash for the good cause. Click the link below for the full details.
