Leyland teenager robbed in street of Grand Theft Auto 4 game

An 18-year-old man was robbed and assaulted in the early hours of this morning in Golden Hill Lane, Leyland.

The victim was with a friend and was walking back from the Blockbusters video store, off Churchill Way, where they had just bought the Grand Theft Auto 4 computer game that had just been released at midnight.

The pair were then approached by two males who both attacked the 18-year-old, punching him in the face and knocking him to the ground and kicking him before stealing the game from his hand and fleeing the scene.

DS Claire Lancaster, of Leyland CID, said: "This was a nasty attack the motive of which seems to have been the video game - Grand Theft Auto 4 - which was only released at midnight.

"The victim was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital and has suffered a broken nose and a broken jaw.

"I would appeal to any witnesses to come forward and contact the police."

The offenders are both white and aged 18-20 years old.

The first is described as being 6ft 2 or 3ins tall, of average build with a shaven head and clean shaven.

He was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit and trainers.

His accomplice is about 5ft 10ins tall, also of average build and clean shaven, with short dark hair.

He wore a dark coloured tracksuit top, trousers and trainers.

Police are also appealing to a woman who was possibly with the offenders, but not involved in the incident, to come forward.

She is described as white, of a younger age, with light coloured hair tied back in a ponytail possibly wearing a light coloured padded jacket with a fur trimmed hood and dark coloured jeans with white trainers.
