A driver in Lancashire has been arrested after he crashed his vehicle after driving over a roundabout on the motorway.

Lancashire Road Police said a black vehicle had been driving on the M55 when it crashed at Junction 2.

The driver then fled the scene at Junction 2, known as Preston Northern Bypass, connecting Blackpool to the M6 at Preston.

He was later found by Lancashire Police Dog Unit and tested positive for drink and drugs, and was subsequently arrested.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "The driver of this vehicle near Junction 2 [on the] M55 did not see the roundabout and continued straight on resulting in a collision.

"The driver did not want to hang around and got off.

"Determination paid off after he was tracked by [Lancashire Police Dog Unit] and arrested for a positive drink and drugs [test]."
