COMMUNITY groups in Lancashire have the chance to bid for more than £200,000 in grant funding.

The second phase of applications for Lancashire County Council’s Local Gateway Grants is taking place and groups are urged to apply for a share of the money.

Wildlife groups, sports clubs, local scouts and guides, citizens’ advice groups, and community radio stations are some of the groups who have already received cash.

County council leader Hazel Harding said: “Around £210,000 was given out during the first wave of applicat-ions to a wide range of groups and activities.

“This is excellent because it has gone directly to Lancashire’s communities, where it can benefit local people.

“The final decision is taken by each of our Lancashire Local committees using their wealth of local knowl-edge about groups and organisations.”

The deadline for applications is August 8.
