Pulses were quickened at a Preston garage this week when a famously fast Formula One car stopped on the forecourt.
The Ferrari driven by Michael Schumacher in the 2003 Formula One world championship was on display at the Kwik Fit garage in Market Street, just of Ring Way, to advertise a tyre promotion.
Officials had removed the engine from the car, which raced round the world’s most famous circuits at speeds of up to 200mph, but it is still worth a nifty £500,000, and attendant Rob Blackburn said the car turned a few heads.
“People were coming in off the road to have a look at what it was all about, it created a lot of excitement.”
He said visitors were still enquiring about the car 24-hours later.
Staff were allowed to sit in Schumacher’s cockpit, while experts from Bridgestone, the official F1 tyre manufacturers for the 2008 season, were on hand to give expert tyre advice.
