AN HISTORICAL manuscript from the Battle of Agincourt is on display at Stonyhurst College this summer.
The lavishly illustrated attraction, which dates from 1415, will be illuminated and gives a lively account of the Hundred Years’ War.
It has been kept at Stonyhurst since 1837 and provides an insight into how war was reported in medieval times.
Visitors have the chance to see the Chronicles of Froissart as part of the popular summer tour of the college’s museum, public rooms and gardens.
During the tour of Stonyhurst, visitors can see the desk on which Sir Arthur Conan Doyle carved his name, the table on which Oliver Cromwell slept before the Battle of Preston, Jacobite pistols found hidden in a priest hole and more.
Stonyhurst, a Grade I Listed building, is also renowned for its magnificent towers and gardens and is regarded as the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of Lancashire’s beautiful Ribble Valley.
Stonyhurst is open every day 1 to 4.30pm (closed Fridays) until August 25.
Adult price is £6 per person, concessions £5.50. For more information call 01254 826345.
