No trial for Preston BNP man over leaflets

A member of the British National Party in Preston who delivered hundreds of leaflets blaming Muslims for the heroin trade, will not face criminal charges, it has emerged.

Race hate unit officers at Lancashire police have been told by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) there is “insufficient evidence” to prosecute Tony Bamber who distributed the pamphlets.

The 53-year-old, who stood in local elections for the BNP in the Tulketh ward in 2006, previously admitted he was involved in distributing the leaflets across Lancashire and at the University of York.

This week, a defiant Mr Bamber insisted he was not surprised the CPS had decided there was “insufficient evidence” to prosecute.

He said: “This decision is most welcome from our point of view, it legitimises the campaign and shows that our demands are fair and just.

"We will continue to distribute the leaflets and educate the middle-classes.”

But one of the county’s top police officers has slammed the BNP distributors, saying the leaflets risked creating tensions between racial groups.

Lancashire Deputy Chief Constable Mike Cunningham acknowledged the CPS’s advice that no criminal act had been committed, adding: “While we understand that this advice is based on established case law, we roundly condemn the contents of these leaflets and those distributing them.

“They can only be described as inflammatory in nature and we are obviously concerned that their distribution in Lancashire could damage community cohesion.”

They were also condemned by the mother of heroin victim Rachel Whitear after a picture of her dead daughter was used on the flyers without permission.

A CPS spokeswoman added: “We advised Lancashire police that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute for inciting racial hatred or to prosecute under the Public Order Act.

"We advised the police that if they come to us with more evidence, we will look at it.”

I wonder if chief constable cunningham observes the two minutes silence on rememberance day, i wonder if he cares about the pain, suffering and sacrifices our forefathers endured so that we could have freedom of speech, freedom of expression and democracy, Does he honestly believe that "risking tension" is of more importance than the "freedoms" that cost so many brave courageous people their lives, chief constable cunningham you should hang your head in shame,

It seems that the marxist doctrine of 'Truth is what we,the marxist elite, say it is' is fast eroding the freedoms our forfathers fought for.
Those that describe truth as 'hate' fear the exposure of their many deciepts.
We now live in an Orwellian world where the tentacles of state control are not dissimilar to Stalins Russia,Hitlers Germany and Mao Zedong's China.
Do we,the British people want that?
If we do not we have only a short time to prevent it without the bloodshed that history shows will surely follow, to regain our freedom.
Freedom is never free,it needs to be respected ,nurtured and fought for.
There are many evil despots who would rule us as slaves.
They will, unless you strive now to prevent it.Who of us would have thought a few years ago, that putting too much rubbish in a bin could land you with a criminal record ?
Your choice is simple,fight for truth or accept the dark years of tyranny that follows its loss, as sure as 'night follows day'.

Lancashire Deputy Chief Constable Mike Cunningham - yes, but community cohesion was damaged years ago when the establishment ignored pleas from the British people to restrict third world immigration. It is they, the establishment - the mainstream political parties, the government, police etc - who have caused this problem, not the BNP

Chief Constable Cunningham is unfortunately typical of the higher hierarchy of the force today, with a Quisling mentality typical of the traitors of WW2. He would stifle the sentiments of all who didn't agree with his warped ideas of justice in order to maintain a position that is ill deserved and, no doubt, built upon the achievements of others.

Quite interesting to see people talk about WW2. This is when we fought against Fascism. If you want to see what the BNP really stand for, look at extreme sites like Stormfront and see how the Nazis are still among us. The BNP may like to window dress their image these days but their aims remain the same. They want riots and racial division. It suits their agenda.

Anyone in any doubt about the standards of debate in BNP land should check out the GLA member, Richard Barnbrook's Daily Telegraph blog site. He cannot stifle debate or comments there, unlike on his main site and as the BNP's deputy, Simon Darby does on his blog - sycophants only. That is the future if God forbid the BNP ever gain any semblance of real power.

I have taken the time. I've read your manifesto and listened to your leaders. You are a racist party.
May I suggest you stay away from Remembrance parades where you are not wanted. Lest we forget, they died fighting for freedom, not for bigots to spread lies and hate.

So, here's the question - what do you say to Holocaust deniers like your glorious leader, Griffin?

Simple question.

Btw, your own site is less than forthcoming on what YOUR views are. Telling people to go to the official BNP site is lazy and pathetic.

You should also apologise to Rachel Whitehead's parents. As her mother said,
"“I was truly horrified when I saw what they’d done with it,”

“Even if one of the main political parties had asked us if they could use it in a campaign I think we would have to say no. For the BNP to use it without even seeking our permission is an insult to my daughter's memory.”

Insulting memories and exploiting existing organisations is stock-in-trade for the BNP. Remember (London's) Mother Against Knives used by Barnbrook at the GLA despite the original group being horrified.

Remember the BNP using Liverpool's capital of Culture logo despite being warned by lawyers.

Remember Tony Bamber of the stoty itself and his Preston Pals. The Royal British Legion spokesman Patrick Leavey saying; " sacrifice should not be besmirched by people engaged in political campaigning for such an ugly cause. We condemn this leaflet, its contents, and those who are disseminating it".

Yes, Cllr. I've spent the time to find out about you and your vile mates.

Can I at this stage make a slight apology. This is a site for Preston and environs. I don't usually like to become embroiled in an argument with the racists on other sites, but sometimes it seems OK as obviously the Tipton Cllr has stepped up to the mark.

I used to live in the WMidlands and was always proud of the diversity seen there. Sure, there were problems but nothing severe.
This is an area that has withstood 2 major civil disturbances.

THE BNP would tell you that every riot is the fault of black people.
The evidence is not there.

Notice how Cllr Green fails to answer the points in my previous posts.

The fact that he talks about a holocaust in Iraq shows his lack of intelligence. Tell that to those serving there. Funny, you don't put it on your leaflets.

We can debate about whether we should be in Iraq, or have followed Bush into regime change, but it is sickening to see the BNP use this.

1997. That is when Griffin denied the holocaust. He has not published anything since to apologise.

There will be many people reading this who have relatives (and i'm one) who gave their lives for this country.
Remember their lives and sacrifice by making sure the BNP are defeated through the ballot box.

Griffin himself has tried to stop leadership elections in the BNP. Shades of Munich.

Thank goodness for Mr Bamber's efforts to educate the middle classes- it's no good leaving it to the Guardian. Issues of social cohesion should not be the concern of Mr Cunningham, Lancashire Deputy Chief Constable, but of the politicians both, national and local, who have encouraged post war mass immigration. It is immigration, especially from the underdeveloped world, that has destroyed social cohesion among the inhabitants of Britain and the ensuing torrent of race relations legislation that has severely weakened the natural solidarity among the native British- by enabling and encouraging the opportunistic denunciation of one another for 'racism' (No native Briton should denounce another for favouring a fellow Briton). The likes of Mr Cunningham, and the politicians he serves, are collaborators in the colonisation of their own country; his condemnation of the leaflets should be regarded as an endorsement of their contents.
Keep up the Good work Mr Bamber!
