EDINBURGH Festival favourite Stephen K Amos will be bringing his acclaimed stand-up show to Burnley, Morecambe and Salford.

The wickedly funny comedian creates weird and wonderful connections within his audience who are drawn into his personal world and thoughts brought to life by his chatty delivery, his ability to become the characters he’s talking about and his energy.

Stephen, who has appeared on Have I Got News For You, Live At The Apollo, and Last Comic Standing, combines his comedy with theatre and previously appeared in the West End production of One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest alongside Christian Slater.

We put some questions to him.

IF YOU HAD TO BE STUCK IN A LIFT WITH SOMEONE, WHO WOULD IT BE? Jesus – I have so many questions to ask him. If he's busy, Mohammed.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR? Intolerance. We all need to open our eyes and respect life. I'm not too fond of rodents either.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SUPERSTITIONS? I don't walk under ladders or step on pavement cracks. OCD perhaps?

IF YOU COULD HAVE ONLY ONE SONG ON YOUR iPOD, WHAT WOULD IT BE? What a Wonderful World.

WHAT'S THE MOST EXPENSIVE THING YOU'VE BOUGHT, NOT INCLUDING PROPERTY? My car. It's quite nice.

WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU'VE BEEN GIVEN? “You should try stand-up”, given to me by Delphine Manly 15 years ago.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED AND WHY? August 2008 at the untimely taking of a wonderful friend too soon.

WHAT'S YOUR INDULGENCE? Business/first class travel on planes. I'm 6ft 2in and thankfully my days of cramped travel are over.

HOW ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY ARE YOU? I try to do my bit and recycle at home. I think major corporations and governments worldwide, particularly America, should do much more.

HOW MANY TEXTS DO YOU SEND IN A DAY? Probably about 10. I much prefer to speak to someone as texts are so impersonal.

WHAT ITEM COULD YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT? My mini mp3 media player that does everything.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD IT BE? I am happy with my lot and try to focus on the positives.

WHERE ARE YOU GOING ON HOLIDAY? I hope to go somewhere hot over Christmas and New Year, wherever there is a top deal, I'll be there credit crunch permitting.

WHAT WERE YOU DOING THIS TIME YESTERDAY? I was on a flight from Australia to London drinking to while away the time and wondering which time zone I was passing and whether it was far too early to be drinking.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING THIS TIME TOMORROW? I will be having a meeting with my agent. I want to be in the remake of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air!

l See Stephen K Amos at Burnley Mechanics on Thursday, November 27, Morecambe Platform on Friday, November 28 and Salford Lowry on Saturday, January 24.
