Planners to hear £700m Preston Tithebarn scheme debated

A CONTROVERSIAL £700 million redevelopment of Preston will go before planners in the next week.

The Tithebarn scheme, which includes a flagship John Lewis store, has been opposed by Blackburn with Darwen council, which fears it will overshadow the borough’s own regeneration plans and kill trade in the town centre.

But supporters of the scheme insist their fears are unfounded and say it will help the whole of Lancashire’s regeneration.

There has been a bitter fallout between bosses in Blackburn with Darwen and Preston over the impact of the project on neighbouring towns and Blackpool council has also objected.

At £700 million, the proposed Tithebarn project is 10 times more costly than Blackburn’s efforts to rejuvinate its shopping centre.

The planning file to be debated this week includes wide-ranging objections from bodies including the Victorian Society and the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment.

It will go before Preston City Council’s planning committee tomorrow and the following Wednesday.

But even if it is given the go-ahead, the scale of objections could still force a public inquiry.

Hi All.

I have many contacts high in the system in Liverpool.

What they tell me is in giving the Crown full entrance into Liverpool via Grosvner Estates building Liverpool 1, evil has major power in a once self determining City.

The Duck of Westminister has already got his foot in Lancashire when he stole the Earl of peels estate and promptly stole all the common land so the elite can shoot birds by the million at a cost of £6000 per day.

Not only that, but we pay for all the security as these shoots take place because they use the SAS and special forces.

This move into Preston will further this Crown control over Lancashire, do not allow this venture to go ahead at all costs.

There is a reason why the Crown has made big moves into Lancashire over the last 30 years, it is because of a legend dating back to the time of Merlin.

Lancahsire is part of what was called the land of the Brigantes, one of the largest tribes of the old world. It is from the land of the Brigantes that the final rebellion against the evil bloodlines will begin...

So let us ensure this prophecy comes to fruition.

If the scheme starts to give Lancashire some prestige again im for it, and im not a Prestonian, Lancashire was a power house once upon a time and as been left to rack and ruin in recent years, (when i say Lancashire i mean the county palatine of Lancashire which is the pre 1974 boundaries) So anything that improves peoples lifes is ok by me, you always get people wanting to stop progress if they had there way we would all still be living in caves.

In this recession we have someone who is going to slightly change the way Lancashire has been and that is by fighting for a better future with such a remarkable development

its best to get it all built now, just like blackburns shopping center project, with the future in mind.
20 years from now the populations of our towns and cities will have increased, hopefully the economic situation will be much more desirable in comparison to the present situation, and so with many more consumers with money to spend we may see the benefits of such developments. In the future , empty shops may be a thing of the past and so intelligent planning is needed. Such developments have spin off's for the wider community of Lancashire as a whole, part of the long term economic regeneration with the future in mind and not just the present, Lancashire is one place that we all live in, work in and invest in, it's all good.
The only hindrance to to the business models are those restrictions we set in place-you cant do that, you cant do this...BECAUSE?
long term trade will not suffer as variety is what the public want, you and i both
