COLNE officially welcomed a German youth group with one 17-year-old who hitch-hiked especially to make it.
Martin Donhom was stopped at the German-Belgian border when his passport had been mislaid and the group had to carry on without him. Determined not to miss out, Martin found it and as Colne Lads Club chairman, John Kendall explained the series of events, Martin was nearing Colne. When the party returned to the house to continue the welcome party, Martin was on the doorstep having hitch-hiked from Dover.
