THE future of British weather and its energy could be in the hands of Bury school children.

Youngsters from five primary schools are taking part in Powergen's Changing Climates programme to learn about energy efficiency and the weather.

The programme works alongside the national curriculum in a variety of subjects, such as science and drama, using underlying themes of natural energy and weather.

The children will showcase their hard work next Wednesday (July 7) in Bolton through singing, dancing, ICT and pictures to a variety of MPs, local sports personalities and an ITV weather reporter.

Since its launch in 1997, more than 1,700 schools have taken part in the Powergen programme which provides schools with resource packs, weather recording equipment and a workshop for teachers.

The Bury schools involved are St John with St Mark School, St Luke's Primary School, St Thomas' Primary School, Tottington Primary School and Unsworth Primary School.
