PLANS to change the use of a mill to include vehicle dismantling and de-pollution have been turned down by Bury Council.

Permission to change the use of Roach Bank Mill in Pimhole Road, Bury, from a go-kart track to an outlet selling new and used car parts and the storage of motor vehicles was granted in October 1994.

But the permission stated that there should be no breaking, dismantling or storage for the breaking of vehicles within those premises.

And a further application in November 1997 to use part of the premises for similar activities was refused because of the disturbance it would cause and the effect it would have on the amenities of nearby occupiers.

Coun Wilf Davison said: "This particular site was given a particular type of permission around seven years ago and has gone beyond the conditions of that, and is now carrying out the work which it is asking permission for."
