RAIN-soaked riders completed a sponsored horse ride for charity despite terrible weather.

Members of the Simister and Prestwich Bridleways Association rode their horses from St George's Church, Simister, to the Outwood Trail in Radcliffe in aid of the International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH).

The 10-mile route enabled the group to raise in the region of £500 for the organisation, but a final total has yet to be calculated.

Organiser Hannah Knaggs, secretary of the Bridleways Association, said: "The weather was shocking, but I was pleased that so many riders still turned up to take part.

"We had around 19 people from age 12 upwards and we were absolutely drenched when we got back, but it was a good day."
