REGARDING the debate about street football, I agree that police should not be contacted at every opportunity.

However, if kids are a nuisance - causing damage either accidentally or on purpose - then something should be done.

Obviously some parents think their kids have some sort of right without knowing the concerns of their neighbours.

A ball constantly banging against a wall can be Chinese torture.

After spending a day gardening, a full-size leather football landing on your plants does get annoying.

After washing your car, a nice scuff mark down the side of it does make you feel you've wasted your time.

As for budding stars, I don't think so.

Beckham and the like have been professionally coached from an early age. Maybe we should encourage graffiti to find a budding artist.

You can't please all of the people all of the time, but there must be a happy medium somewhere.

I too have kids and want them to play safely and sensibly, but when it gets to the point of cheesing my neighbours off, then they are checked well before it gets out of hand and the police need to be involved.
