MICHAEL Hughes has given his wife, Alice, the same Valentine's card for 40 years.
The couple met as penpals and the card dates from their first year together. It is dusted-down annually for the occasion, although a new, supplementary card is usually bought.
"The card's not in such bad condition, given its age," said Michael, of Roman Road. "It features a couple on a bicycle."
The couple, originally from Dublin, moved to Blackburn in 1976. They have three children and five grandchildren and recently celebrated their ruby wedding anniversary.
