BURNLEY will not be swooping to bolster their strike force by signing Dele Adebola.

Reports emanating from Coventry have suggested the striker is Turf Moor bound after being told he can leave Highfield Road.

Adebola has struggled to recapture the form of his early years in recent seasons following knee surgery.

But Ternent, a past admirer, has confirmed he will not be looking to snap up the strapping Nigerian.

Meanwhile, defender David May hopes to extend Burnley's fast-improving defensive record over the coming weeks and months.

Since being partnered with Mark McGregor in the FA Cup third round at Mansfield two rounds ago, the Clarets have remained unbeaten in six games and conceded just two goals.

And the former Manchester United stopper - a double FA Cup winner during his Old Trafford days - is happy to lead from the front.

May, 33, said: "I have obviously experienced quite a lot in my career and I pass on any tips I can to the rest of the players.

"Whether they listen or not is another matter, but I think they are wising up a little bit.

"Defensively we are not giving the opposition that many chances and fortunately we are not being punished for the ones we are giving away. Hopefully that will continue."

May and his defensive colleagues were today hoping to keep Burnley's FA Cup campaign alive by shutting out Millwall at the New Den.

A positive result would put Stan Ternent's men into the quarter-final draw for the second successive year.

May admitted: "There is a special buzz about the FA Cup and this is a massive game for us.

"If we can get through and land a home draw in the next round who knows what

might happen.

"We drew against Millwall at Turf Moor earlier in the season, but we have become harder to beat since then.

"If you look, First Division teams have reached the semi-finals quite often over the last few seasons.

"But we know it would be unwise to get too far ahead of ourselves because Millwall will be very difficult opponents."
