BLACKBURN Rovers' latest signing David Bentley is ready to roll his sleeves up and prove his worth to new boss Mark Hughes.

The 21-year-old loan signing from Arsenal is desperate to make his Rovers debut in Sunday's North West derby with Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok.

But despite his impressive pedigree, the England Under 21 international does not expect to walk straight into the side following his recent switch from Highbury, even though Rovers are crying out for extra creativity.

"Hopefully, I can try and fit into the team somewhere," said Bentley.

"I know I'm not guaranteed a place because there's some top players here.

"It's certainly not a formality that I'll go straight into the team, I know that, so it's a matter of me putting the work rate in and then seeing what happens from there.

"At the end of the day, I just want to get out there and play and I don't really care what position I end up playing in - I'll even play at right-back if the manager wants me to!

"It's just good to be looking forward to playing football again at the weekends and hopefully I'll fit in here and find myself in the team."

Bentley's versatility could prove to be a useful asset for Hughes over the coming months as he seeks the right formula for success.

He can play out wide, in the hole, or as one of a three up front and his precocious talent in the final third has already prompted some to hail him as a future England international.

For now, though, all Bentley is concerned about is proving himself at Rovers where he hopes to perform consistently enough to earn a regular place in Hughes' starting line-up.

Speaking of his international prospects, he said: "There's always a possibility but it's one step at a time.

"I found it difficult at Arsenal so I've come away and it's a matter of me coming here and proving myself here for a start and doing things right for Blackburn and for myself.

"Everything else can wait, to be honest."

Meanwhile, Rovers will head to the Reebok looking for their first away points of the new season.

Aside from the 2-1 home win against Fulham, Rovers' form has been patchy so far but Bentley believes it's only a matter of time before the team starts firing.

"The form has been a bit indifferent so far," he added.

"In the first game of the season the players didn't come away with a result but you can see they've been giving 100 per cent, and if they carry on with that work rate then they've got the ability within the team to pass the ball and they've got the pace so it's only a matter of time before the results will come."
