CAMPAIGNERS fighting for the reinstatement of the railway between Colne and Skipton have presented their case to the European Parliament in Belgium.
Andy Shackleton, David Penny, and David Walsh, of the Skipton – East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership (SELRAP), gave a breakfast presentation to MEPs, in Brussels.
The event was hosted by MEP for the North West Brian Simpson, who is also the transport representative.
Mr Shackleton talked about the campaign to re-open the rail link, and the invited audience were encouraged to be even more proactive in their support and helping to identify possible funding streams.
Mr Simpson wrote to Mr Shackleton after the event to outline his support for the campaign, as well as a similar one to reinstate the Todmorden Curve, which would provide a direct link between East Lancashire and Manchester.
