AROUND 2,500 girl guides flooded Blackburn's shopping centre last night to celebrate the movement’s 100th anniversary.
Guides aged from four to 94 turned up for the Vision 2010 party where they promised to continue their work for at least another century.
The Mall was brought to life by the buzz and excitement from the Brownies, Rainbows, Rangers and hundreds of other girl guide volunteers from East Lancashire.
All 2,500 girls joined up in a live video link to regions across the country and the world where they made their pledge after being congratulated by the association’s chief guide, Liz Burnley.
Andrea Cottam, county commissioner for the Girlguiding Lancashire East Association, said: “It has been absolutely electric.”
