A TODMORDEN pensioner who is known to regularly visit Accrington and Burnley has been missing for a week.

Police are 'very concerned' for the welfare of 80-year-old Roy Hartley, who was reported missing by his family from his home in Whirlaw Avenue last Wednesday.

The last confirmed sighting of him was at 4.20pm that day at the bus station in Rochdale.

Officers have since made numerous enquiries to trace him and are calling on the public for their help.

Inspector Allan Raw in charge of the Upper Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "For anyone to be missing for a week is concerning, but Roy is an older man with health concerns and we need to locate him and ensure he is OK.

"His family are concerned for his welfare and so are we.

"With the weather becoming colder we need to find him as a matter of urgency.

"I am appealing directly to anyone who has seen Roy in this last week to get in touch with the police as soon as possible.

"Roy is known to visit public houses and street markets in the Halifax, Todmorden, Sowerby Bridge and in the Accrington, Burnley and Rochdale areas of Lancashire.

"Have you shared a drink with Roy? Have you sold him something from your market stall or shop?

"If so then we need you to get in touch as soon as possible."

He was last seen wearing a black suit and a white shirt with no tie.

Anyone who has seen Roy or has information as to his current whereabouts is asked to contact police on 0845 6060606.
