A MAN caught in possession of drugs worth around £11,000 has been jailed for more than four years.

Liam Pinnington was found to have ten bags of cocaine in a wardrobe at his home in Great Harwood.

He also had what the prosecution at Preston Crown Court claimed was a supplier’s list that bore names and written amounts of money.

The court was told that Pinnington and his co-defendant Imran Shah had handled stolen vehicles, one of which later came into the hands of an un-suspecting buyer.

Pinnington, 25, of Arthur Street, pleaded guilty to possessing drugs with intent to supply, handling stolen goods and fraud.

He was jailed for four years and four months.

Shah, 24, of Princess Street, Blackburn admitted two handling offences and fraud. He received 16 months prison.

Elizabeth Nicholls, prosecuting, said one stolen vehicle they handled was a Volkswagen Golf, which was taken in a burglary last year.

The vehicle went on to be be advertised in a magazine and a man bought it for around £7,200.

A second stolen vehicle was a Mini Cooper, also taken during a burglary.

After arresting the pair, police went on to execute a search warrant at Pinnington’s home.

In a wardrobe, police seized ten bags of cocaine.

There was a total amount of 287 grammes of the drug.

Officers also found the “supplier’s list”, cash and a large amount of small clear plastic snap bags.

In a prepared statement, Pinnington claimed to police that he had been put under duress and threatened with violence, if he did not agree to hold the drugs.

Tim Ashmole, for Pinnington, said the cocaine had been of a very low purity.

He said: “Ordinarily, he is a good-natured, polite and articulate young man who has clearly fallen into bad company.”

Guy Mathieson, for Shah, said he had been at the bottom of the ‘food chain’ so far as his offending was concerned.

He said: “He had got into a desperate situation which required desperate measures.”
