THE teenage nephew of a fallen East Lancashire soldier is to follow his footsteps into the army.
Jack Lancaster, 17, from Earby, has just joined the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment and will be training in Harrogate for the next 12 months.
His uncle, 25-year-old Lance Cpl Jordan Bancroft, also from Earby, died in battle in August while serving a tour of Helmand, Afghanistan.
Mandy Paul, Jordan’s auntie said about Jack: “He is making his uncle proud.
“We tried to persuade him against joining up, but his mind was set so we are proud and just hope he keeps safe.
“At 17 he is very brave. Not many men would stand on the frontline.
“He reminds me of Jordan. He’s got that same fire in his belly.”
Mandy, 42, was helping raise funds in memory of her nephew at the Freedom of the Borough parade in Clitheroe on Thursday.
