THE chief executive of Lancashire County Council wrote a stinging letter to Whitehall chiefs complaining about funding, it has emerged.
Phil Halsall was in charge of resources in January when he said the funding settlement was ‘particularly late’, branding it a ‘wholly unsatisfactory state of affairs’.
He also said the county council was underfunded for the academies programme and bus travel for pensioners.
The letter, which was not made public, was released under the Freedom of Information Act to the Lancashire Telegraph.
Last week we reported how bosses at 15 Blackburn with Darwen charities had written to Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles.
Their joint letter spelled out how their charities are facing ‘devastating’ cuts of more than 50 per cent and being forced to make staff redundant.
