HYNDBURN councillors remain in line for a 3.6 per cent rise in their expenses.
A request to reject proposals for the rise was not taken up at Hyndburn’s full council last week.
The independent body responsible for setting Hyndburn’s rate has recommended a 3.6 per cent increase, which would come into automatic effect on April 1.
Opposition members requested the council actively reject the rise, but the suggestion was not accepted.
A question put to council leader Peter Britcliffe at the meeting by opposition leader Miles Parkinson read: “Will the leader follow the lead of the Labour Group and not accept any increase?”
In his response leader Peter Britcliffe said it was a decision for individual councillors.
He said: “This says the Labour group take the lead – but none of you have put in for a cut in your expenses.
"I am not saying that you won’t, but it hasn’t been done yet.”
