A MAN with more than 50 convictions for driving while disqualified was ‘tempted’ when local children asked him to mend their mini-moto bike.

Blackburn magistrates heard Robert Bausor drove the bike to the end of the street and back but was caught on CCTV.

Bausor, 40, of Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, without insurance and without a helmet.

He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months, made subject to community supervision, ordered to pay £85 costs and banned from driving for two years.

Michael Blacklidge, defending, said: “To his credit he has not been in trouble for over two years.

“Youngsters were riding these mini-motos close to his home in Empress Street, Accrington, and one of them wasn’t working properly.

"He fixed it and then foolishly drove to the end of the street and back. The bike has a top speed of 25 mph but whether he reached that speed is doubtful.”
