A NEW £8million sixth form centre in Rawtenstall has created 18 new jobs.

And bosses at Alder Grange Community and Technology School’s centre, which is called ‘ag6’, hope to create more jobs in the future.

The development has created jobs including seven teaching and 11 non-teaching roles that include site supervisors to office staff.

Jo Griffiths, head of ag6, said: “As a school we know how important it is to invest in the next generation, and when we originally planned the building of ag6 we did so in consultation with people like the primary care trust in the area, so that we provided the necessary for jobs in specialised sector areas such as health and also in childcare and horticulture.

“We wanted ag6 to be instrumental in breathing new life in to the area and to encourage our young people to stay.”
