A CANNABIS farm worth up to £60,000 has been uncovered in Darwen today.

Police officers made the discovery when they raided a property in Lloyd Street this morning.

Specially trained officers swooped on the address at 6.50am following an anonymous tip-off.

When they raided the terraced house they found 150 plants which each have a street value of upto £400 each.

Police said some of the plants they discovered had reached heights of 6ft tall.

Officers discovered the plants growing on both the ground and first floors of the building.

The Crime Scene Investigation team were requested to attend the scene to gather the plants as evidence.

Last night police said no arrests had been made.

Insp Andy Winter said: “Once again, we have taken cannabis off the streets of Lancashire.

“We are committed to taking action against those who we suspect to be involved with illegal drugs.

“I would urge residents to work with us and continue to report any suspicious activity. Information about drugs can be reported to the police on 0845 125 3545 or to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”

Sudell ward Councillor Roy Davies, Sudell ward, said: “It is good news that police are pursuing people who are growing this.

“It is important that police carry on doing this.

“It’s good that it is off the streets but for everyone they find and get off the streets there are two more there.

“It is an endless battle but we have to try and get it down as much as possible.

“The police are being proactive but I would ask people if they know about them to report them to police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0845 125 3545 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
